Destination Monaco

The small sovereign and independent state Monaco, with a surface area of only 485 acres, is a tourist destination like no other. Bordered by France and the Mediterranean Sea, the luxury, glamorous State of Monaco welcomes you with its beautiful hotels and fascinating history. In 1997 the Principality of Monaco celebrated the 700-year reign of the Grimaldi dynasty. Dressed like a monk to get inside the fortress, the first Grimaldi captured the settlement in 1297, with his small army. This was the beginning of the exquisite tourist destination set on the Rock of Monaco. After the French Revolution, the Grimaldi family lost its fortune. In 1861 the Grimaldi´s exchanged one-half of its territory for money and independence, in order to safe Monaco. To reestablish the economy, after the loss of half the natural recourses, they invested in tourism and gambling.
